台北市長柯文哲16 日出席第一屆台灣藝術博覽會，他認為，既然台北捷運要用100年，就不能只是從實用出發，應該多花一點錢，讓地面上的捷運站更有造型和特色，展現台灣本土藝術美學。
柯文哲表示，高雄捷運的美麗島站獲得全世界捷運藝術排名第一名，回頭看台北捷運，反而沒有特色，除了劍潭站外，其他地面上的捷運站都沒有造型，過去花6000億元蓋捷運，只從實用出發，這些要用100年的建築物應該多花一點錢，蓋得更有造型，至少要在世界上可以爭取排名。
不過因為捷運站都已經蓋好了，因此柯文哲認為可以動用台北市每年工程費用的1％，約4到6億元，成為公共藝術的建置費用，支持藝術發展，不要另外編列預算，就可以帶動台灣藝術和設計水準，並支持本體藝術和本土美學發展。
